Neil Morrin did a fundraiser walk, walking from coast to coast for Cornwall Hospice Care in order to raise money for all those who have lost someone. He walked from Fowey to Padstow along the Saints way in a day, it was 36 miles, which may not sound like much to the marathon runners among us, but it was the furthest that he had walked in a day. He raised an amazing amount of £541 for the Cornwall Hospice Care.
Cornwall Hospice Care:
Cornwall Hospice Care provides specialist care and support for people with terminal illnesses. Their clinical teams support patients and their loved ones in our hospices, within their acute hospitals and care homes and in the community through their Neighbourhood Hubs. They run two hospices – Mount Edgcumbe at St Austell and St Julia’s in Hayle. They also run a 24 hour advice line for other healthcare professionals.
It costs over £5m to provide this specialist care that they offer, with only 19% of this funded through a contribution from Cornwall’s NHS commissioners. The other £4m is raised through the support of the people of Cornwall and beyond, who leave gifts in their wills, support their fundraising events, play their lottery and visit their charting shops and donation centres across Cornwall.
